On a system with a LAN or LAN+Modem module, the LAN may not function if the system is on battery power and there was no active LAN connection when the system is started. This is by design. If the BIOS setting for the LAN is set to "Auto" and the system is on battery power, the BIOS checks the LAN device for a connected network cable on start. If there is no cable connected at start, then the LAN device is disabled to save battery power. This is described in the BIOS Setup help window
Set the LAN Controller to Enabled in the System BIOS:
1. Restart the computer and press the F2 key at the Fujitsu logo to enter the BIOS Setup Utility.
2. Once in the BIOS press the right arrow key to highlight the Internal Device Configurations and press the Enter key.
3. Use the down arrow key to highlight LAN Controller and than press the space bar until it is set to Enabled.
4. Press the F10 key to save the changes and exit.
The LAN controller will no longer be disabled when the computer is started on battery power without a network cable attached.
