Optical Drive Not Detected

CAUTION: INCORRECTLY EDITING THE REGISTRY MAY SEVERELY DAMAGE THE SYSTEM. BEFORE MAKING CHANGES TO THE REGISTRY, ENSURE ALL VALUED DATA IS PROPERLY BACKED UP. WITHOUT A BACKUP, IT MAY NOT BE POSSIBLE TO RETRIEVE LOST DATA.

Do the following steps for Optical Drive not detected:

1. Go to My Computer or Device Manager and check if CD/DVD is detected.

2. Log to BIOS by pressing F2 and check if CD/DVD is detected.

If Optical Drive is seen in BIOS and not in My Computer of Device Manager do the following steps.

  • Click run and type regedit
  • Click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
  • Click SYSTEM
  • Click Current Control Set
  • Click Control
  • Click Class
  • Click {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} delete the upper filter and lower filter on the right panel
  • Restart the computer.
If Optical Drive is seen in not seen in BIOS do the following steps.
  • Load defaults in BIOS by pressing F9
  • Save Changes and Exit by pressing F10 and click Yes
