CAUTION: INCORRECTLY EDITING THE REGISTRY MAY SEVERELY DAMAGE THE SYSTEM. BEFORE MAKING CHANGES TO THE REGISTRY, ENSURE ALL VALUED DATA IS PROPERLY BACKED UP. WITHOUT A BACKUP, IT MAY NOT BE POSSIBLE TO RETRIEVE LOST DATA.
Do the following steps for Optical Drive not detected:
1. Go to My Computer or Device Manager and check if CD/DVD is detected.
2. Log to BIOS by pressing F2 and check if CD/DVD is detected.
If Optical Drive is seen in BIOS and not in My Computer of Device Manager do the following steps.
- Click run and type regedit
- Click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
- Click SYSTEM
- Click Current Control Set
- Click Control
- Click Class
- Click {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} delete the upper filter and lower filter on the right panel
- Restart the computer.
- Load defaults in BIOS by pressing F9
- Save Changes and Exit by pressing F10 and click Yes
