Optical Drive Not Reading Any Media

Follow these steps to troubleshoot unable to read optical drive media:

1. Use another CD to check if the media is the problem.

• Did this resolve the issue? If Yes, the issue is resolved. If no, see step 2.

2. Boot to BIOS by pressing F2 at the Fujitsu logo, Load Defaults by pressing F9 and save and exit by hitting F10.

3. Use a bootable CD to test the issue outside of Windows.

• Change the boot sequence in BIOS and run the Recovery CD and/or use the boot menu by pressing F12 and run the Recovery CD.
• Did this resolve the issue? If Yes, the issue is software related. A driver or system reload may be needed. If no, see step 4.

4. Notebook needs to be send to depot for further diagnostics. Please contact Fujitsu Technical Support at 800-8FUJITSU (1-800-838-5487) for more assistance.

Note: A scratched or cracked CD can also be a point of failure for this issue.
