Follow these steps to troubleshoot unable to read optical drive media:
1. Use another CD to check if the media is the problem.
- Did this resolve the issue? If Yes, the issue is resolved. If no, see step 2.
3. Use a bootable CD to test the issue outside of Windows.
- Change the boot sequence in BIOS and run the Recovery CD and/or use the boot menu by pressing F12 and run the Recovery CD.
- Did this resolve the issue? If Yes, the issue is software related. A driver or system reload may be needed. If no, see step 4.
Note: A scratched or cracked CD can also be a point of failure for this issue.
