Optical Drive Will Not Close or Eject

Follow these steps for an optical drive that will not eject:

1. Access the BIOS by pressing F2 and check to see if the optical drive is detected.

• If the optical drive is not seen in the BIOS, follow these steps:

 Load defaults in BIOS by pressing F9
 Save Changes and Exit by pressing F10 and select Yes

2. Force the drive open using a paper clip.

• If the drive does not eject using this manual method, send the notebook to the depot for further diagnostics.

Follow the steps to troubleshoot drive will not close:

1. Check if there are multiple CD’s in the drive which could have caused this problem.

• If yes, send the notebook to depot for further diagnostics.
• If no, push the tray inside gently and try to press eject.

2. If the tray still won't close send the notebook to depot for repair. Normally this is because of the mechanical problem with the tray. Contact Fujitsu Lifebook Technical Support at 1-800-8FUJITSU (1-800-838-5487) for further assistance.
