In troubleshooting noise issues with an optical drive, one has to consider the following:
1. Noise may occur with media or without media in the optical drive.
2. Noise with the media could be because the laser is not recognizing the media.
3. Clean the drive using lens cleaner. If it's still emitting noise, the notebook needs to be sent to repair depot for further diagnostics. Please contact Fujitsu Technical Support at 800-8FUJITSU (1-800-838-5487) for more assistance.
4. Noise issue may also be caused by the mechanical parts inside of the drive. This means that we need to reseat the optical drive. If that does not resolve the issue, the notebook needs to be sent in for repair for further troubleshooting.
