Wireless drops when computer switched to battery power

When PROSet is set to Automatic, it reduces the power of the wireless adapter when the computer goes to battery power. Change the power settings in PROSet from "Automatic to "Manual" and set to "Maximum Performance"

Note: Applying the changes recommended in this solution may cause battery charge to decrease more rapidly than before.

1. Open PROSet from Control Panel or by right-clicking the system tray icon
2. Select the Adapter tab, under Power Settings, click [Configure...]
3. Under Power Management, select Manual and set the slider to Maximum Performance
4. Click [OK] to close all windows

Version 9 driver:

1. Open the Advanced tab of the adapter’s hardware properties using one of these methods:

  • Open Intel PROSet/Wireless by right-clicking the system tray icon
  • Open the Windows Wireless Network Connection Properties select the General tab and click [Configure…]
2. On the Advanced tab, In the Property: list, click Power Management
3. Uncheck "Use default value" then set the slider to Highest
